HOW THICK IS CERAKOTE AND WILL IT EFFECT THE FUNCTION OF MY FIREARM?
Cerakote is a very thin application, and is generally applied at about 0.001” in thickness, which is why it is an excellent choice for firearms. It will not effect the function of most firearms with the exception of those with very tight tolerances. In certain instances where tolerances are very tight special attention will be given to ensure proper clearances of parts. We also provide function test of all firearms before leaving the shop.
IS THERE A BREAK-IN PERIOD AFTER MY FIREARM IS CERAKOTED?
There is generally no break-in period needed. If you do experience sluggish slide or malfunctions this should resolve itself after 100-200 rounds and most likely sooner.
DO YOU WARRANTY YOUR WORK?
We will refinish due to cracking, peeling, flaking or any other failures of the application. This does not cover scratches, misuse or damages caused from wear, abrasion or impacts.
SHOULD I DISASSEMBLE AND SEND ONLY THE PARTS TO BE COATED?
Yes, we prefer that you send only the parts to be coated with an inventory list of what has been included in your shipment. All items to be coated must be totally disassembled, including bolts. We do not finish sears, springs, pins etc. Disassembly can be done by yourself or your local gunsmith. If we disassemble there is a gunsmith charge.
DO YOU REMOVE DINGS, DENTS, RUST AND PITTING PRIOR TO THE PROCESS?
Part of the preparation process is sand blasting. Dings, dents and heavy pitting will not be removed and will be visible in the end product. Surface rust, very light pitting and minor marks and scratches generally can be removed.
DO I NEED TO SHIP FROM A FEDERAL FIREARMS DEALER?
You do not. We are a Federally Licensed Gun Shop (aka FFL dealer). You can ship directly to us and will return directly to you. We will email you the instructions to safely ship us your firearm from anywhere in the United States of America
IS CERAKOTE REALLY DURABLE?
Absolutely. It won't chip, flake or scratch off. Tests have shown it more durable than traditional bluing, parkerizing or other finishes. It goes on ultra-thin, and you can still read logos, serial numbers, etc stamped into the gun.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
Short answer: About 7 - 10 business days from the time we get it in the mail from you. If we have a Cerakote backlog we will notify you of the changes.
